KENNEDY'S KLASSICS

As many of my fans will know, I am a huge horror movie fan and I hope this is very prevalent within my videos. On this hidden page I have named my top 10 horror movies and how they have impacted my work:

1. Get Out - This is my all time favourite movie. Not only because of the bloodcurdling horror that hits you from the opening sequence, but because of how revolutionary this movie was in terms of both social commentary and political stance. For those of you who have not seen it, you know what you need to do.

2. Purge: Anarchy - The sequel to the breakout horror hit that's concept has been practised in communities around the world, and has sparked various political debates about class and government intervention. This movie, in particular, is my favourite in the franchise because we get to see the real horror of what can become of a world thriving off of control and misused power. Too relevant for today. Let's forget about the next 2 movies.

3. It - Stephen King's novel gets the adaptation it deserves in this coming of age horror-drama. Never have I ever seen a movie with so much heart, let alone a horror movie. From start to finish, the acting was beautiful and the scares were thrilling and well placed.

4. Rosemary's Baby - The mother of all psychological horrors. The first time I saw this movie I was spellbound by how truly frightening it was, given its 1968 release date. It proved to me that no matter how old, nor how many jump scares, a creative narrative along with chilling performances are the puzzle pieces in creating a truly terrifying piece of art.

5. The Cabin In The Woods - You've seen it all before... but have you? This movie plays on genre conventions and completely throws them out of the window. An original take on something we have seen time and time again that will always inspire me to never play by the rules.

6. the conjuring - A near perfect haunted house movie that boasts incredible attention to detail (set pieces, costumes; stunning) and effective old-school scares. Director James Wan has proven himself as a master of the horror genre.

7. The Conjuring 2 - The mesmerising sequel to The Conjuring takes us to 70s Britain tremendously; capturing the nostalgia perfectly. It takes a huge step away from the original, standing on its own feet as an equally thrilling horror flick.

8. The Shining - Kubrick's presence still lingers within cinema today with his vivid storytelling and marvellous cinematography. It was this film of his in particular that made me want to become a filmmaker. From Nicholson's unhinged performance to the one-point perspective camera work; this is perfection.

9. The Exorcist - Its well-earnt title of "the scariest film ever" may be subjective today with the advancements off visual effects. However, I still strongly believe in this statement. I will never forget the weeks of nightmares I had after my first watch.

10. Sixth Sense - Although M Night Shyamalan has made some very... let's say "big mistakes" throughout his career, no-one can take away that this movie is a pure triumph. With what a twist incomparable to any other in the industry, this film is both intelligent and horrifying.
